Undergraduate Scholarships


Barry Goldwater

Benefits 

  • $7,500 a year are provided to help cover costs associated with tuition, mandatory fees, books, room, and board.
  • A sophomore who receives a Goldwater Scholarship will receive up to $7,500 in each of his/her junior and senior years.
  • A junior who receives a Goldwater Scholarship will receive up to $7,500 in his/her senior year.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Accredited 2- and 4-year academic institutions that have identified a Goldwater Campus Representative with the Foundation may nominate up to four students annually. No direct student applications or nominations by campuses without a Goldwater Campus Representative will be considered.
  • Be a full-time matriculated sophomore or junior pursuing a degree at an accredited 2- or 4-year institution of higher education during the 2017-2018 academic year
  • Intend to pursue a research career in a natural science, mathematics or engineering
  • Have a college grade point average of at least a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, and
  • Be a U.S. citizen from the 50 states or the District of Columbia; a U.S. national for those students nominated by institutions in Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands; or a permanent resident. A permanent resident nominated for the scholarship must include a letter stating his/her intent to become a U.S. citizen. A photocopy of the nominee’s Permanent Resident Card, also known as the Alien Registration Card or Green Card, must also be submitted.

CIA Undergraduate Scholarship Program

Purpose

The Undergraduate Scholarship Program is a financial needs-based initiative that offers undergraduate students an unmatched experience in a diverse and inclusive environment. Undergraduate students, serving as scholarship recipients with the CIA, attend an accredited college/university on a full-time basis and work during summer breaks at the CIA.

Benefits 

  • Tuition assistance up to $18,000 per the calendar year for tuition, mandatory fees, and books
  • Daily allowance for meals and incidentals during summer tours
  • Reimbursement for transportation costs between school and Washington, DC
  • Annual salary
  • Health insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Federal retirement plans
  • Paid time off, as well as sick and holiday leave

Eligibility Criteria

  • 18 years of age by date of application to the scholarship program
  • Financial need as demonstrated by the gross annual household income ceiling up to $70,000 for a family of four or less, and $80,000 for a family of five or more
    • If the applicant has not been listed as a dependent for the previous tax year, the gross annual household income ceiling is $35,000 or less
  • 1000 SAT (new official score scale) or 1500 (old score scale); or 21 ACT scores or higher (high school students)
  • Acceptance at a 4- or 5-year college/university; or pursuing an undergraduate degree as a full-time student enrolled in or planning to take, at least 9 credits per semester
  • GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for high school and/or college
  • Availability to work at least two 90-day summer tours prior to graduation and willingness to work at CIA full time after graduation

Graduate Scholarships


Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GFRP)

Purpose:

The purpose of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is to help ensure the vitality and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing full-time research-based masters and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) or in STEM education. The GRFP provides three years of support for the graduate education of individuals who have demonstrated their potential for significant research achievements in STEM or STEM education. NSF especially encourages women, members of underrepresented minority groups, persons with disabilities, veterans, and undergraduate seniors to apply.

Benefits 

  • Three years of support during a five-year fellowship period anticipated Funding Amount: $138,000
  • a stipend of $34,000.
  • cost-of-education allowance of $12,000.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident.
  • Intend to enroll or be enrolled full-time in a research-based graduate degree program in an eligible Field of Study in STEM or STEM education (See Appendix and Section IV.3 for eligible Fields of Study).
  • Have never previously accepted a GRFP award.
  • If previously offered a GRFP award, have declined by the deadline.
  • Have never previously applied to GRFP while enrolled in a graduate degree program.
  • Have never earned a doctoral degree.
  • Have never earned a master’s, professional, or bachelor’s-master’s degree in any field, unless returning to graduate study after an interruption of at least two (2) years.
  • Not be a current NSF employee.

ASNT Fellowship Award

DEADLINE:  CLOSED

Purpose

The ASNT Fellowship Award provides assistance to university or college graduate students in defraying costs of their post-graduate research in NDT/NDE. To fund research activity in nondestructive testing (NDT) at the graduate level, either master’s or doctoral.

Benefits 

  • The Financial Awards Committee selects up to five $20,000 awards each year, pending merit and number of submissions,

Eligibility Criteria

  • Universities or colleges with post-graduate engineering and science research programs are eligible. Specific accreditation, such as ABET accreditation, is not required.
  • Faculty Advisor must meet the requirement for directing the student’s graduate degree program as required by the nominating university.
  • No more than one proposal per faculty member will be considered annually.
  • The student must meet the requirement for the degree program described in the proposal as required by the nominating university.
  • The funds shall be used as described in the proposal submitted as part of the application documentation.
  • The intent is to support the students in the conduct of their studies or research need towards attaining a graduate level degree.

CyberCorps® National Science Foundation Scholarship For Service Program

DEADLINE: Open Enrollment.

Benefits 

  • Fully-covered tuition.
  • Stipends of up to $34,000.
  • Funds for health insurance, professional development, and books.
  • Summer internships, typically paid, with a government organization.
  • Access to the CyberCorps® Scholarship for Service Job Fair, where scholarship recipients meet Federal or State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial government employment recruiters.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a U.S Citizen or Lawful Permanent U.S. Resident.
    (Not dual, not an alien from a country on the state-sponsored terrorism list from the state department).
  • Must meet criteria for Federal employment.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance, if required.
  • Demonstration of legitimate interest in, and commitment to, pursuing an Information Assurance or cyber-security-related careers with a government entity after graduation.
  • Scholarships are awarded on a merit-based basis.

(ISC)2 Graduate Cybersecurity Scholarship

Purpose

The (ISC)² Graduate Scholarship program offers scholarships for graduate student who is pursuing a degree with a focus on cybersecurity or information assurance.

Benefit

  • Scholarships of up to $5,000

Eligibility

  • Must be pursuing, or plan to pursue, a degree with a focus on cybersecurity or information assurance.
  • Must be eligible to begin the first or second year of a Master’s Degree program or pursue doctoral studies
  • GPA must be at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (or an analogous rank based on a comparable scale)
  • Note: If you have just been accepted to Graduate School, or are just beginning classes, you will use the final cumulative GPA from your undergraduate degree transcript to meet these criteria
  • You may be a citizen of any country (US citizenship not required)
  • May be attending on campus or online
  • May be attending full time or part-time
  • May be attending in the US or Internationally
  • You do not currently need to be enrolled, however, no awards will be disbursed until the recipient is enrolled in a college or university.
  • If awarded: the award will be sent to the school with instructions that it be applied to tuition, fees, and books.
